About the course
People who have contact with children and their families, regardless of their job must understand their safeguarding responsibilities. It is crucial to possess the knowledge of overseeing children's welfare, identifying potential maltreatment, and responding appropriately.
This Introduction to Safeguarding Children course provides you with the necessary knowledge and abilities to safeguard children effectively under your care. It covers identifying common forms of maltreatment, responding to disclosures, and addressing concerns regarding a child's well-being. A blend of written material, real-life case studies, and engaging activities will enhance your confidence in fulfilling your safeguarding duties.
Aims of the course
By the end of the course you will be able to:
- Identify the essential legislation and statutory framework supporting safeguarding practices.
- Describe various forms of child maltreatment.
- Identify things that make some children particularly vulnerable.
- Identify and appropriately respond to indications and concerns of potential child maltreatment.

Deaf Awareness: Online Training for Teachers
About the course
One or two of every 1,000 children born in the UK has permanent hearing loss. This online course for teachers will help you communicate with, and support the learning of, your deaf and hard of hearing pupils.
It covers:
- the importance of deaf awareness in the classroom setting
- different perspectives of deafness
- strategies for communicating with deaf pupils
It also includes a free and optional 'taster' of British Sign Language.
Aims of the course
By the end of this course you'll be able to:
- Employ appropriate behaviours and language when interacting with deaf pupils
- Distinguish between communication preferences and adapt your communication to your pupil’s needs
- Recognise legal requirements (Equality Act 2010 and Accessible Information Standard) to provide reasonable adjustments related to disability
- Identify commonly used assistive technologies and apply them to the needs of the pupil
